Friendship

We packed an overnight bag, and drove north to our friends’ house near the beach. the new roads opened over the last few years makes this a quick trip now, and in no time we were welcomed into a house whose purpose is relaxation and hospitality. The gardens were showing the first signs of spring, even one stalk of asparagus was ready for dinner (necessarily supplemented by others bought at the morning market). There was wine, I’d experimented and made herb and garlic breadsticks, ribs were on the barbecue, and later, my sticky date, chocolate and ginger pudding with toffee sauce capped off the evening. There was music and laughter and love; am evening full of delights.
