This day proved that I was now, geographically and metaphorically, over the hill, as we joined friends in our region’s popular wine village for an overnight stay. We spent the afternoon at a winery picnic day with music and wine tasting on a beautiful spring day that showed the promise of things to come. We ran into an old friend we hadn’t seen for many years that was a delightful surprise, then we talked and talked and talked! Later, we went to a cool Asian place for dinner, and then home to their place to talk some more. To top it all off, we unusually watched cricket, when NZ beat Australia (and that is always a delight) in a most emphatic, dramatic manner that had us laughing in unaccustomed delight. A day filled with the delights of friendship, and the reminder to say “yes” to every invitation!
