I usually listen to audiobooks when I walk. This week though, I listened to one on my drive back over the hill (where both radio and mobile receptions vanish), and thoroughly enjoyed myself. So, as if I was reading the book myself, I sat on the couch, listened to the book, folded some laundry, and played the occasional puzzle game on my iPad. The book, Celeste Ng’s Everything I Never Told You, was heart-breaking, beautifully told, insightful, yet not preachy. I even approved of the narrator’s voice – too often I find some accents jarring, get annoyed with vocal fry, and have to stop an audiobook, even when I am enjoying the content. I spent a few hours with the book, an unusual way for me to spend an afternoon, but a thorough delight.
I haven’t read her latest yet, but I devoured this book and “Little Fires Everywhere.” She’s an amazing writer!
