I mentioned a couple of months ago that I was getting some old jewellery repaired, and some other old jewellery redesigned. Today was collection day for the redesigns. I’m not much of a ring wearer, so I had decided to get two rings remade into things I will actually wear. First, I had my original engagement ring (replaced many years ago by the same jeweller) that no longer fitted, and in the end wasn’t really my style, remade into a squiggly silver and gold pendant. I am thrilled with it. I’d chosen the design, of course, but it was so much better than I had dared to imagine. I also had a ring – left to me by my mother-in-law – redesigned into ear-rings. They’re delicate and elegant. Neither of the rings had any great value. But the redesigned results look so much fancier! It really is all about the workmanship. To say I am delighted is an understatement!
