Just a very pleasant summer day. I went for a long and extremely pleasant walk in the morning, before it got too hot. Walking at this time of year in the sun always makes me a little nervous, but I was well covered up with sunscreen, the temperature was warm but not too warm, the streets were quiet, and the pohutukawa were still out, allowing me to glory in the profusion of red flowers, even though they are fading.
Summer however, is not fading. A warm afternoon, and in the evening, as the Husband cooked dinner (a delight in itself, no?), I sat outside with a glass of wine and a good book, listening to the birds in the trees, and enjoying the all-too-rare warmth.
