Fruit mince

I began some seasonal baking preparations today. I whizzed up all the dried fruit for my Christmas mini mince pies. It sounds easy, but the fruit (sultanas, raisins, currants, dates, apricots) needs to be done individually, it is very sticky and gooey, and can get messy. Then I soak the fruit with some brandy, mash the bananas, and mix it all together. It used to be a chore, but today was a delight. It is so nice not to have to squeeze it all into one day, to relax when I’m doing it, and to know a good book is waiting for me when it is done.
